Brookline /ˈbrʊklaɪn/ is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, in the United States, and part of the Boston metropolitan area. Once a “Muddy River” farmland of Boston, it was incorporated as a separate town in 1705. Brookline was named for the brooks that formed its boundaries.
